CERVICAL CANCER: we can't think of many who would go, "great I'm going for my cervical screening", but let's look at this another way. Cervical screening is there to help identify early changes to cells in the cervix and now importantly to check for HPV. We know the human papilloma virus (particularly certain types of it) are contributors to the development of cervical cancer. The screening programme was designed to help protect women and it does a good job. For those aged 25-64 you will be invited for screening - it's only every few years and you can find out more about it on the NHS website. https://buff.ly/2sWISj4 At GO Girls we are always here to support you. However, what we have started to see is a rise in more advanced cases. NEWS: Dr Hannah Pierce MBChB MA JOINS GO GIRLS CLINICAL ADVISORY PANEL We've been working with Hannah for a while now = she is an exceptional gynae-oncology trainee - we recognise supporting the newer generation and welcoming them into the GO Girls family is very important - a very warm welcome from us all. Hannah graduated with distinction from Keele University in 2015. Her first job as a doctor was in gynae-oncology and that's where her passion for the speciality began. In 2017 she became an Obstetrics and Gynecology teaching fellow at Keele university and also completed her Masters in Medical Education. She then moved to the Wessex Deanery in 2018 to start her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training which she is currently completing. She has continued her role in education and has just been appointed to a simulation fellow post where she designs and implements new training initiatives for O&G trainees. She became a member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2022 and plans to continue working towards becoming a consultant gynaecologist. #gynaecancer #clinicaladvisorypanel #future #news #cancer

OVARIAN CANCER: CA125. So what is this? A CA 125 test measures the amount of the protein CA 125 (cancer antigen 125) in the blood. The test may be used to look for early signs of ovarian cancer.
