A FANTASTIC forties fundraiser will be held this weekend to help bring cancer services to Dorchester.

The GO Girls! who support women with gynaecological cancers have teamed up with The Old Tea House to put on a a 1940s tea party.

Debbie Alley owns the Old Tea House along with her husband David.

She said: "The fundraising the GO Girls! have achieved so far is quite amazing. If we can do our little bit to help them raise awareness of these terrible cancers and help with their fundraising, we will be thrilled.

"We've been touched by cancer and I am sure many others will have too, so we hope as many people as possible will join us at the event."

The Old Tea House will be providing summery treats including cream teas, sandwiches and jugs of Pimms.

The Land Girls are also joining the afternoon celebrations with live music from 3pm and guests are encouraged to dress up in 1940s style attire.

There will also be a hamper to raffle with the winner announced on the day.

The event will help raise the GO Girls! £50,000 target towards the Cancer Appeal at Dorset County Hospital.

The project will develop cancer facilities and bring radiotherapy services to Dorchester for the first time.

Debbie added: "To have the new cancer centre here in Dorchester will be of such benefit to so many people whose lives are affected by these diseases. Travelling to Poole or further when you are so unwell is just too hard, so we do hope everyone will support us and the GO Girls! at our event - it will be fun."

Teresa Wolff, Vice Chair of GO Girls! said: "To have such local community support means so much to us. It's going to be a fabulous day. The GO Girls! couldn't have done this without the Old Tea House's support, so a big thank you to them."

The event will be held at the Old Tea House at 44 High West Street on Saturday, June 30 between 2pm and 6pm. Tickets cost £15 per person. To book call Debbie or a member of the team on 01305 263719.
