Support Julie to reach her target

To celebrate being 60 in 2018 I am going to raise £500 for Go Girls!

In 2015 my amazing, lovely daughter Holly was diagnosed with cervical cancer at the age of 28.

I am very close to Holly and had sensed something wasn’t quite right but never imagined the news she would give us in August 2015. Holly had a routine cervical smear, which showed abnormal cells. Further treatment followed and Holly was told she had cervical cancer; she was lucky to catch this cancer very early.

There followed lots of other tests, meetings and decision to make! Hilary supported Holly and Sebastian at each step of the way….

It was a comfort to me that Holly had support from this group; it also made me realise she was not the only young girl to be receiving devastating news. The group made Holly feel comforted and welcome.

Holly had life saving surgery in September 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester and after being checked every three months for two years was given the all clear news in 2017. Holly will now be checked every six months.

So, this is a good, up lifting story, which I hope offers hope to other girls in a similar situation. I see Hilary’s posts each week welcoming others to the Go-Girls group.

I want to support this group and running is what I do.

I have entered 6 White Star x-country events across 2018, all half marathons, apart from Larmer Tree 10 (which is 10 miles). They are all, hilly tough races and I hope to complete them all to raise a minimum of £500. I am also having a 60th birthday party in June and I will ask for no presents but instead a donation to my fund raising campaign!

The events are:-

  • March Larmer Tree 10 (10 miles)
  • April Bad Cow Half
  • May Ox Half
  • July Dorset Invader
  • August East Farm Half
  • October Chase Half

I will also continue to run my normal road race events and maybe one or two triathlons!

My daughter is an inspiration to me; whenever I have to face tough things I think of her and what she faced. Holly is gorgeous, fun to be with and the bravest person I know. Holly was scared and frightened at first but with the help of her fabulous husband to be - Seb, family, friends and Go Girls she is a survivor! My Holly………

Donate and help Julie reach her target.
